My Sisters’s Dress Now Collecting Formal Dresses

Benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County

McHenry County, Illinois - February 20, 2008 - The first annual My Sister’s Dress Project is now collecting new and almost-new formal gowns and accessories for distribution to help financially challenged young women attend prom.

With the average price of attending high school prom climbing to nearly $500, many teenagers would be unable to attend prom without this extraordinary opportunity to purchase a dress for only $20. All proceeds will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County.

My Sister’s Dress is hosting dress drives now through March 21 to collect formal shoes, jewelry, shawls, and gowns in new or gently used condition. These collection drives are scheduled in preparation for the 1st annual dress sale to be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, April 5 & 6, 2008 at McHenry County College.

The following local businesses will accept dress and accessory donations during their own business hours: American Community Bank in Crystal Lake, McHenry and Woodstock, Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County in McHenry and Star 105 in Crystal Lake.

If you have any questions about My Sister’s Dress or volunteering the day of the event please call Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County at 815-385-3855 or by email
